Every iPhone user will confirm that it is essential for him to have his new phone work with iMessage. Apple’s native messaging is very addictive, and many users refuse to install the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th messaging apps all the more because they all look and all do what native iMessage does.

For use Palm with the Android operating system as a leisure phone, it would be nice to install iMessage, but unfortunately, this is not possible because Apple iMessage did not release for Android. But it is possible to use AirMessage, which will deliver iMessage messages to Android.

But it’s not one application you install on Palm, and there’s more to do. AirMessage takes advantage of iMessage running on Macs, so you install an AirMessage server on your Mac that will redirect incoming iMessage messages to your Palm app and send messages from Palm to iMessage.

The installation is not complicated and consists in dragging the downloaded app to Applications, launching, setting the password, port, and frequency of message updates, and enabling access to iMessage files. Then just set the port forwarding on your router, install the application to Palm, enter the address and password, and voila, you have iMessage on Palm… d8-D

There are a very detailed tutorial and video on the application site, including how to install the server, dynamic DNS record settings, etc. But you do not have to worry about it. I managed the whole installation and setup in about 10 minutes.

Nothing happened in the application after the installation, but when I opened the chat with someone from iMessage, it downloaded and displayed the entire communications history, and then everything worked as expected, so there’s no reason not to recommend AirMessage.

Každý uživatel iPhonu vám potvrdí, že je pro něj velmi zásadní, aby jeho nový telefon pracoval s iMessage. Nativní messaging od Applu je velmi návykový a mnoho uživatelů prostě odmítá instalovat si 2., 3. nebo 4. messaging aplikaci tím spíš, že všechny vypadají a všechny dělají to, co nativní iMessage.

Pro použití Palmu s operačním systémem Android jako volnočasového telefonu by bylo fajn nainstalovat si iMessage, ale to bohužel není možné, protože Apple iMessage pro Android nevydal. Je ale možné využít aplikaci AirMessage, která vám doručí iMessage zprávy i na Android.

Nejde ale o jednu aplikaci, kterou si nainstalujete na Palm a je hotovo, je toho potřeba více. AirMessage využívá toho, že iMessage běží i na počítačích Mac a tak si na svůj Mac nainstalujete AirMessage server, který bude přesměrovávat příchozí iMessage zprávy do aplikace v Palmu a zajišťovat odesílání zpráv z Palmu do iMessage.

Instalace není nijak složitá a spočívá v přetažení stažené apky do Aplikací, spuštění, v nastavení hesla, portu a frekvence aktualizace zpráv, a v povolení přístupu k iMessage souborům. Pak už jen nastavit port forwarding na vašem routeru, nainstalovat aplikaci do Palmu, zadat adresu a heslo, a voila, máte iMessage na Palmu...d8-D

Na stránkách aplikace je velmi podrobný návod i video, jak server nainstalovat včetně vychytávek typu nastavení dynamického DNS záznamu apod. ale nemusíte se toho bát, celou instalaci a nastavení jsem zvládl cca za 10 minut.

Po instalaci se v aplikaci v Palmu nic nedělo, ale v okamžiku, kdy jsem otevřel chat s někým z iMessage, stáhla a zobrazila se celá historie komunikace a vše poté fungovalo dle očekávání, takže není důvod vám AirMessage nedoporučit.

Japonsko je 6.zemí, kde se prodává Palm! Po Spojených státech, Spojeném království, Německu, Španělsku a Hong Kongu začal v tomto týdnu prodej Palmů i v Japonsku.

Japan is the 6th Country where Palm is selling! After the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and Hong Kong, this week, Palm sales began in Japan.

The website Caseplay.jp is selling Palm phone for ¥44,801, which is approximately U$402. In addition to the phone, the original Palm Lanyard case and Kate Spade Flexible Hardshell case for ¥3,801 (U$34) and Wristlet for Palm by Kate Spade for ¥7,344 (U$66) are also available.

Ano, jsem Ovce. Apple iPhone mám od verze 3G a jsem s těmi telefony doopravdy spokojený. No, spokojený jsem co se týče ovládání, funkcí a aplikací, méně už s trendem zvětšování velikosti a hmotnosti zařízení. Rozměry aktuálních iPhonů XS nebo dokonce XS Max už téměř nejsou rozměry telefonu, ale tabletu, a o hmotnosti raději ni nemluvit...d8-D

Právě rostoucí rozměry a hmotnost, kdy vám telefon v kapse málem stahuje běžecké kalhoty, pro mne byly impulzem podívat se po něčem menším a lehčím, a když jsem uviděl a osahal si Palm, věděl jsem že to je to zařízení, které bych jako doplňkový telefon rozhodně užil.

Poněkud jsem se ale obával, jak se sžiji s OS Android, na Palmu je verze 8.1 Oreo a já naposledy viděl tenhle OS někdy ve verzi 2 něco, kdy to v porovnání s iOSem moc nefungovalo.

Jak se ale ukazuje, používání Palmu není od iPhonu X nebo XS zásadně odlišné. Dolní trojjediné tlačítko Back, Home a Overview (snad je to tak správně) a jedno, dvě, nebo dlouhé tapnutí jsou věc, na kterou si dokáži zvyknout. Ovládání hlasitosti, vytváření screenshotu a další ovládání, které se vysune z horní strany displeje je de facto identické s iPhony.

Co se aplikací týče, tak téměř všechny aplikace včetně Apple Music, které běžně používám, jsou dostupné i na Google Play Store, takže jako jediné lehce problematické aplikace se nakonec ukázaly být Twitter a Reddit klienti. Na iPhonu používám Tweetbot a Apollo, ale ty jsou dostupné pouze pro iOS. Na Androidu jsem si ale našel náhradu v podobě Fenix2 a Boost a jsem s nimi spokojený stejně jako s originály.

A na konec jsem si nechal lahůdku, kterou na iOSu používá každý a má potenciál od Palmu odradit - jde o zprávy, resp. iMessage. Tato součást OS iOS na Androidu není a asi ani nikdy nebude, ale existuje způsob, jak to obejít a to prostřednictvím aplikace AirMessage, která funguje velmi spolehlivě a o které se rozepíšu více v jiném příspěvku.

Takže když se to vezme kolem a kolem, Apple ovce se Palmu opravdu bát nemusí. Zařízení i operační systém se ovládají velmi podobně a nenarazil jsem na nic zásadního, co by mi v používání Palmu zabránilo. Nemohu tedy než vám Palm rozhodně doporučit...d8-D

Yes, I’m an Apple Sheep. I have an Apple iPhone since 3G, and I’m pleased with those phones. Well, I’m happy with the controls, features, and applications, less with the trend of increasing the size and weight of the device. The dimensions of the current iPhone XS or even XS Max are almost no longer the size of the phone, but the tablet, and the weight rather not talk about it… d8-D

The growing size and weight, when the phone in your pocket almost pulls your running pants off, was an impulse to look for something smaller and lighter, and when I saw and touched Palm, I knew it was a device that I would like as a complimentary phone enjoyed.

But I was somewhat worried about how I get to know the Android OS, the 8.1 version of Oreo on Palm because the last time I saw this OS in version 2 something that didn’t work very well.

However, using Palm is not fundamentally different from iPhone X or XS. The lower three-button Back, Home and Overview buttons and one, two, or long taps are the things I can get used. Controlling the volume, creating a screenshot, and other controls that come out from the top of the display are de facto identical to the iPhones.

As far as applications are concerned, almost all applications, including Apple Music, which I commonly use, are also available on the Google Play Store, so Twitter and Reddit clients have proved to be the only problematic application. I use Tweetbot and Apollo on the iPhone, but these are only available for iOS. On Android, however, I found a replacement in the form of Fenix2 and Boost, and I’m happy with them as well as with the originals.

Finally, I kept the delicacy that everyone is using on iOS and has the potential to discourage it from Palm - it’s messages, respectively iMessage. This part of iOS is not and probably never will be on Android, but there is a way to get around it through the AirMessage application, which works very reliably and about which I write more in another post.

So when it comes around and around, Apple sheep do not have to worry about Palm. Both the device and the operating system are very similar, and I have not found anything essential to prevent me from using Palm. So I recommend Palm to you…d8-D
