When you get a beautiful phone like Palm, you won’t want to break it or scratch it, so you will surely buy one of the covers available. You may have seen some covers and cases in several videos or photo galleries (see accessories), but today I want to show you the Redluckstar Case Cover.

It is a case from high-quality clear TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) plastic that does not yellow and surrounds the Palm. To prevent the package from sticking to the phone, the inside of the back of the phone case has a laser-printed texture so that the surface appears to be slightly roughened.

The sides and back are protected by a sufficiently thick TPU layer, which exceeds both the cameras, as with the iPhone’s slightly protruding back and the display. The cover works very well as a basic bumper and protects your phone from falling, and there is no reason to worry about scratches on the camera or display.

The cover is exact, and the phone snaps into it like a missing puzzle piece. On the right side of the top of the cover is a button, which allows a smooth function of the phone’s hardware button. At the bottom, two holes can be used to attach a not included wrist strap. The case contains precision holes for microphone and loudspeaker, so there is no sound damping; the space around the USB-C connector is sufficient to connect the charging cable.

The cover is very bearable, does not slip, and the TPU is very pleasant to the touch, does not rub or yellow. Primarily, it is the ideal cover to protect your phone from scratches in your pocket, but with a thicker layer of plastic, it is also a reliable basic bumper to protect your phone from low falling.

Poslední dobou sleduji, že se vícero webů začíná bavit o dvou výrazech - digital distraction a digital detox. Obojí spolu souvisí, a souvisí to i s telefony a s Palmem.

Digital distraction je digitální rozptylování, stav kdy jste neustále digitálně rozptylováni, něco co tu dříve nebylo a přišlo teprve relativně nedávno, s chytrými telefony a notifikacemi jednotlivých aplikací. Hloupý telefon vás vyrušil pouze hlasitým vyzváněním a nebo morzeovkou pípané upozornění na SMS. Dnes ale máme v chytrých telefonech desítky, stovky aplikací, a každá z nich si myslí, že právě ona je ta nejdůležitější a že právě její notifikace musíte na svých mobilech sledovat. To vede k tomu, že jste neustále vytrhováni ze svého soustředění pípajícími zprávami a blikajícím displejem mobilu.

Digital detox je digitální detoxikace, často míněna jako odpočinek od digitálních technologií obecně. Prostě že seberete všechnu odvahu, zahodíte mobil a vydáte se bez něj někam daleko, ideálně na nějaký opuštěný ostrov mimo veškerou známou civilizaci a nebo do vojenského prostoru, kde stejně není signál, takže i kdybyste si tam mobil vzali, mohli byste se tam s ním tak maximálně vyfotit.

Ale dobrou zprávou je, že tyhle dva výrazy jsou vlastně dva protipóly, 2 extrémy, a je na nás, abychom si našli svou komfortní zónu někde mezi. To můžeme udělat třeba tím, že si určíme, které aplikace a které notifikace jsou pro nás skutečně důležité a ty ostatní prostě na svém telefonu nepovolíme. 

Můžeme si ale také říct, že náš volný čas je pro nás natolik vzácný, že nechceme, aby nám do něj vstupovaly jakékoliv aplikace, nebo dokonce kdokoliv cizí svým voláním (znáte přece různé nabízeče, průzkumy, apod.) a právě v tomto nám může Palm pomoci.

Recently, I have seen that several websites are beginning to talk about two terms - digital distraction and digital detox. Both are related, and this is also associated with phones and Palm.

Digital distraction is a situation when you are always digitally distracted, something that has not been here before and came recently, with smartphones and application notifications. The silly phone just interrupted you with a loud ringing or a Morse tone with an SMS alert. Today, however, we have in smartphones dozens, hundreds of applications, and each one thinks that it is the most important thing and that you have to track it on your mobile. This results in you being ripped continuously out of your concentration by beeping messages and a blinking cell phone display.

Digital detox is often described as a rest from digital technologies in general. You just use all the courage, throw away your cell phone and go out without it, ideally on a deserted island outside of any known civilization or deep in a military area where there is no signal anyway, so even if you take your cell phone there, you could use that just for  taking a picture.

But the good news is that these two expressions are actually two counterparts, 2 extremes, and it is up to us to find our comfort zone somewhere in between. We can do this, for example, by determining which applications and notifications are critical to us, and only not allowing others on our phone.

But we can also say that our free time is so precious to us that we do not want any applications to bother us, or even anyone else by calling to us (you know different offers, surveys, etc.) and that is where Palm can help.

Lidé z mého okolí si už všimli, že si tu a tam pohrávám s něčím malým, co se velmi podobá zmenšenému iPhonu X, dokonce jsem dělal aprílový šprým, že mi žena na 60° vyprala telefon a že se mi srazil, a zajímají se, jaký ten telefon tedy vlastně je. Takže...

Je krásný! Palm je doopravdy krásný kousek hardwaru, který je naprosto úžasně dílensky zpracovaný. Vše lícuje, pevně drží, nic neskřípe, jak tomu občas u telefonů bývá, a použité materiály jsou naprosto perfektní - Gorilla Glass a hliník je stejný jako u prémiových telefonů.

Je malý! Palm je doopravdy malý telefon. Jistě, na skoro každé fotografii ho vidíte v něčí ruce, na něčí dlani a je jasné, že není kdovíjak velký, ale ta srážka s realitou, když ho pak opravdu držíte ve své ruce, máte ho na své dlani, je i přesto poměrně šokující. Ten telefon je totiž ještě menší, než jste očekávali.

Je lehký! Palm je doopravdy lehký telefon, jehož hmotnost 62,5 g je vzhledem k velikosti de facto očekávatelná, přesto vyráží dech obzvláště pokud v jedné ruce držíte Palm a v druhé iPhone XS Max (208 g), ale i běžný iPhone XR (194 g) nebo iPhone XS (177 g) váží jako 3 Palmy.

Úžasně zobrazuje! Palm a jeho displej s hustotou zobrazení 445 ppi je naprosto neuvěřitelně jemný a v jemnosti konkuruje i iPhonům XS a XS Max, které mají hustotu 458 ppi. Rozlišení 720 x 1280 pixelů je v kombinaci s úhlopříčkou 3,3“ naprosto dostačující, navíc jde o standardní rozlišení, které by měly všechny aplikace podporovat.

Umí všechno! Palm díky použití populárního operačního systému zvládá provozovat prakticky každou aplikaci, kterou jsem se z Google Play Storu rozhodl nainstalovat. Sociální sítě, hudební aplikace, fitness aplikace, navigaci, mapy, prostě vše funguje a hlavně funguje skvěle.

Na baterii vydrží! Palm na jedno nabití vydrží opravdu dost, a to proto, že když na něm začnu poslouchat hudbu, dříve mi baterie dojde ve sluchátkách, a to mé BeatsX hrají opravdu dlouho, cca 8h přehrávání. V Palmu mám prostě staženo spoustu hudby, a na jedno nabití si ji opravdu všechnu neposlechnu.

A to je pro dnešek všechno, ale o své další dojmy a poznatky se brzy zase podělím…d8-D

It’s beautiful! Palm is truly a beautiful piece of hardware that is fabulous in the craft. Everything fits, holds tight, does not crack anything, as sometimes happens with phones, and the materials used are perfect - Gorilla Glass and aluminum are the same as with premium phones.

It’s small! Palm is a tiny phone. Sure, on almost every photo you see him in someone’s hand, on someone’s palm, and it’s clear it’s not big, but the real clash, when you hold it in your hand, it’s on your palm, yet quite shocking. The phone is even smaller than you expected.

It’s light! The Palm is a lightweight phone whose weight 62.5 grams you could expect due to its size, but wows you out especially if you hold a Palm in one hand and an iPhone XS Max (208g) in the other, as well as a regular iPhone XR (194g) or iPhone XS (177g),  weighs like 3 Palms together.

Amazingly displays! The Palm and its 445 DPI display are incredibly gentle and competing with the 458 DPI XS and XS Max iPhones. The resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels in combination with a 3.3 “diagonal is quite sufficient, and it is a standard resolution that all applications should support.

He can do everything! Using a popular operating system, Palm manages to run virtually any application I have installed from Google Play Store. Social networks, music apps, fitness apps, navigation, maps, everything works, and works great.

The battery lasts! Palm on a single charge lasts a lot because when I start listening to it, the battery of my earphones runs out before, and my BeatsX plays really long, about 8h. I have a lot of music downloaded in Palm, and I really won’t be able to listen to it all on one charge.
